After Tkachuk got out of the penalty box, Sabres defenseman Dennis Gilbert challenged him to a fight, but the former refused to drop the gloves.
However, during the third period, when the Senators were out of the game and down 4-0, Tkachuk had a change of heart and fought Gilbert. Tkachuk started the scrum with Gilbert, but the Sabres defenseman recovered well and threw some good punches.
Ultimately, Gilbert ended up getting the fight he wanted after the Zucker hit, while Tkachuk tried to energize his team.
Gilbert, 28, has appeared in 14 games this season with the Sabres, where he has one assist, 11 blocks, 36 hits, and 36 penalty minutes.
