Summary As a Sr. Compensation Analyst at Hummingbird, you will play a key role in ensuring compensation practices are fair, competitive, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations. Your work will promote equity, transparency, and long-term employee success by supporting compensation structures that are sustainable, clearly communicated, and aligned with both organizational needs and employee well-being. Acting as a program owner, and trusted partner to the business, you will support the delivery and evolution of compensation programs, advise managers on pay decisions, and ensure practices reflect Hummingbird’s values and meet legal and regulatory standards. To support Hummingbird’s continued growth, you will also assess and align compensation structures for incoming team members from partner organizations, ensuring consistency, and compliance. Responsibilities Job Description Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. FLSA Status: Exempt Compensation: $104,00 – $127,250 based on experience. Benefits Eligible: Yes. Travel: 1-2 trips per year for company events and training Working Hours: Alignment with client work hours within the US. Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service. Compensation Benchmarking and Analysis Determine appropriate job levels, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status, and compensation grades based on job responsibilities, requirements, and market data. Provide guidance and support to managers on job design and compensation-related matters. Conduct market analysis using survey data and benchmarking tools to ensure compensation is externally competitive and internally equitable. Evaluate internal and external pay data to support fair pay decisions for new hires, promotions, and merit increases. Develop compensation recommendations and cost models that consider both fiscal sustainability and employee retention. Maintain documentation and audit trails to ensure transparency and informed decision-making. Compliance & Regulatory Alignment Monitor and apply federal, state, and local compensation-related laws, including FLSA, pay equity, and transparency mandates. Conduct audits and provide proactive guidance to ensure compensation practices meet legal and ethical standards. Maintain compensation-related documentation and partner with Legal to assess risk and recommend mitigation strategies. Stay informed on evolving labor regulations and incorporate them into internal processes and communications. Compensation Program & Policy Development Assist in designing and documenting compensation programs that reinforce fairness, consistency, and long-term opportunity for employees. Draft and refine compensation policies to improve clarity, transparency, and trust in compensation decisions. Help evaluate and optimize compensation frameworks that support career growth, stability, and organizational alignment. Collaborate with HR and Total Rewards leadership to build programs that reflect both business needs and employee livelihood. Integration and Mapping Support Support the integration of incoming teams by aligning compensation structures with Hummingbird’s framework and philosophy. Identify disparities and recommend strategies to ensure equity and consistency across roles and business units. Document integration decisions and ensure equitable placement of incoming employees. Coordinate with HR partners and managers to ensure understanding and smooth implementation of compensation policies. Maintain accurate compensation records in Workday and generate reports to support budgeting and planning. Ensure compensation actions (e.g., salary changes, promotions, bonuses) align with policy and regulatory requirements. Process Improvement and Documentation Collaborate with leadership to refine and optimize compensation structures and processes. Support the development and implementation of new compensation programs, including short-term and long-term incentives and merit cycles. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in compensation administration. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements and new programs and adjust as necessary. Create and maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of compensation processes and policies. Partner with hiring managers and senior leadership to create job profiles that reflect organizational needs and align with internal mobility and career pathing goals. Present data-driven narratives that illustrate the impact of job design and compensation structures on retention, career development, and organizational growth. #LI-JR1 Required & Desired Skills Required Skills and Experience 5+ years in compensation analysis or a related HR field. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in job analysis, job leveling, and designing compensation structures. Proficiency with compensation analysis tools and methodologies, including market surveys and benchmarking. In-depth knowledge of compensation laws and regulations, including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance and pay transparency laws. Proven ability to adopt a consultative approach, working closely with managers to create and refine job profiles that reflect responsibilities and organizational needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and recommendations clearly. High attention to detail in managing compensation transactions, job profiles, and documentation. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with HR, leadership teams, and other stakeholders. Familiarity with executive comp and broad-based comp. Desired Skills and Experience Experience designing compensation programs in a start-up environment. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation. Experience with merger and acquisition (M&A) processes, specifically aligning job and compensation structures. Familiarity with executive pay and equity program design. Proficiency with HRIS systems, ideally Workday, including administration and maintenance of compensation-related data. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and modeling. Familiarity with project management tools and processes.
