Shaquille O'Neal Makes 8-Word Proclamation on Jalen Brunson After Game Winning Three

The New York Knicks ended their thrilling six-game series against the Detroit Pistons in Detroit on Thursday with a 116-113 win in Detroit, punctuated by a game winning three from Jalen Brunson.

Brunson’s heroics were made all the more impressive by his ability to shake free from Pistons forward Ausar Thompson who used his youthful energy and length to make the Knicks guard work for every point.

Following Brunson’s clutch series winner, the NBA on TNT crew could not help but shower the Knicks with praise as they prepared to share highlights on the series finisher.

“Captain Clutch,” O’Neal called Brunson, a nickname has gained traction in NBA circles lately.

Brunson had 40 points and seven assists in 42 minutes as he impressed NBA fans across the country, leading New York past Detroit and onto the second round against the defending champion Boston Celtics.

“Oh I can’t wait,” NBA on TNT host Ernie Johnson said in anticipation of Brunson’s upcoming performance against Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics.

“Brunson showed what a superstar looks like tonight,” O’Neal added about the Knicks guard, who will have his hands full against Derrick White, Peyton Pritchard and the Celtics’ deep backcourt in the next round.
