If there was any doubt the Pittsburgh Steelers are serious about drafting a quarterback early in the 2025 NFL draft, this should remove it. According to multiple sources including NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Steelers are bringing in Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for a predraft visit on Thursday.
The Steelers currently hold the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Meanwhile, Sanders is the consensus No. 2 quarterback in the draft behind Miami’s Cam Ward. Sanders’ draft stock is all over the place, depending on which NFL draft pundit you ask. Some mock drafts have him going as high as No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns all the way to our of the first round altogether.
Pittsburgh is wise to do their due diligence on Sanders and the other top quarterbacks outside of Ward. The team could make a trade up for Sanders if he does start to slide but it seems highly unlikely Sanders would last all the way to No. 21. The Steelers and Sanders would be a good pairing, as head coach Mike Tomlin would be a great mentor for Sanders as he enters the league.
