Steelers 2025 NFL Draft summed up by one word, per Bleacher Report

The Steelers had a fantastic 2025 NFL Draft, but the clear focus on defense confused many who believed a quarterback should have been selected earlier than Round 6.

The news shouldn’t have come as a shock to anyone, as it was heavily speculated and rumored that the Steelers were set to target a defensive tackle in Round 1 — but that didn’t stop Bleacher Report from weighing in on the Black and Gold’s draft haul.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon recently tackled the challenge of describing each NFL team’s draft class in just one word — and the Steelers were summed up as “typical.” Here’s how Gagnon explained why that best fits Pittsburgh’s draft selections:

“Just what you’d expect from a franchise like this, passing on all-or-nothing quarterbacks in favor of a disruptive interior defensive lineman, a bruising back and two more front-seven defenders in the first five rounds. They’re jacked, but quarterback continues to be a huge question mark.”

It may be “typical” of the Steelers to neglect quarterback — a position Pittsburgh has failed to nail down since Ben Roethlisberger retired at the conclusion of the 2021 season — but it’s predicted that 2026 will be the year they finally lock down their future signal caller.
