No. 2 Texas A&M (43-9, 15-8 SEC) defeated No. 5 Tennessee (40-13, 15-9 SEC), 13-2 in five innings, Saturday in a regular-season finale for both schools at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
The Aggies won the three-game series.
Texas A&M led, 5-0, in the contest when it was suspended Friday due to inclement weather. The Aggies scored three runs in the first inning and added two runs in the second inning before rain and lightning forced the game to be suspended.
The game resumed with the Lady Vols batting in the second inning, and on the first pitch of the day Sophia Nugent hit a solo home run for Tennessee. The Lady Vols’ other run in the game came in the third inning after Kinsey Fiedler scored when Taylor Pannell reached on an error.
Tennessee, which lost just its second SEC series in 2025, won the first game of a scheduled doubleheader, 5-1, Friday.
Nugent went 2-for-3 and recorded two home runs, four RBIs and two runs, while Ella Dodge went 2-for-2 and hot one triple.
Sage Mardjetko (11-2) started in pitched five innings for the Lady Vols. She allowed one run and six hits. Mardjetko recorded three strikeouts, while totaling 60 pitches.
Karlyn Pickens pitched two innings. She allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout. Pickens totaled 18 pitches.
