The Ville TBT game today, schedule for Louisville team at Freedom Hall

Will the third run in The Basketball Tournament be the charm for The Ville?

We will find out today, when the team of mostly former Cardinals begins its hunt for $1 million against Boston vs. Cancer in the first game of TBT’s Louisville Regional at Freedom Hall.

The Ville reached new heights last summer, reaching the TBT quarterfinals before falling to a team representing archrival Kentucky in front of the largest crowd in tournament history. Having been the first regional host to reach 4,000 tickets sold in May, the ex-Cards will enjoy home-court advantage for as long as they stay alive — Freedom Hall for the first four games, Knights Hall on Bellarmine’s campus for the last two.

The veterans are back — Chane Behanan, Montrezl Harrell, David Johnson, Peyton Siva and Russ Smith are among those suiting up for coach Luke Hancock. Some impactful new additions have entered the mix, too, including Earl Clark, Jay Scrubb, Ray Spalding and Malik Williams.

Today’s game will be Boston vs. Cancer’s TBT debut. “The team combines elite talent with purpose,” its official bio reads, “aiming to make a statement on the court while raising awareness off it.”
