The NFL Owners Meetings are taking place this week in Florida, and one of the first points on their agenda will impact the flexing of Thursday night games.
The vote will address changing the amount of time teams get for flexing Thursday games from 28 days to 21 days, per Sports Business Journal.
When the issue first arose a couple of years ago, there was tension among the owners. Some felt it was doing an injustice to fans to take a game off a Thursday night.
SBJ reported the league originally wanted the window to be 15 days, but the final agreed-upon number was 28 days. The Thursday flexing option was a one-year trial expanded to 2024 when no Thursday games were flexed in 2023.
This will be an interesting item as the owners have taken sides on it in the past, and there is no guarantee they will agree to shrink the window from 28 days to 21.
