Toronto Maple Leafs Recall Dakota Mermis From AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled defenseman Dakota Mermis from the Toronto Marlies, the team announced Tuesday.

Mermis, a product of Alton, Ill., is in his first season with the Maple Leafs organization. Although he has yet to appear in a game with the Maple Leafs, Mermis has appeared in 20 games for the Marlies, collecting six assists. Mermis also saw one game with Utah after he was claimed by the team earlier this season.

Having turned pro in 2015-16, Mermis has played in 75 career NHL regular season games across eight seasons with Utah, the Arizona Coyotes, New Jersey Devils and the Minnesota Wild. Across that span, he’s scored four goals and added eight assists for 12 points.

With Mermis being recalled again by the Leafs, it is yet to be seen if he will make his debut with the team. As someone who has provided veteran leadership with the Marlies in 2024-25, Mermis is solid depth to have as the Leafs head towards the playoffs.
