Emmet Mosley makes presence felt against Florida
After weeks of anticipation, Emmet Mosley V finally made his Longhorns debut on Saturday. While he was unable to spark the Longhorns to a win, he was one of the few bright spots in an afternoon to forget in Gainesville. In his first game of the season, Mosley flashed his potential and showed why Texas is happy to have him back in the mix.
Against the Gators’ secondary, the Chicago native hauled in two passes for 40 yards. He finished fourth on the team in receiving yards and yards per catch. While the newest Longhorns weapon is still adjusting to a new scheme, he showed instant chemistry with Arch Manning.
Now that Mosley is healthy, Texas hopes they have another weapon to rely on for the foreseeable future. Before joining Texas, he had put together a solid freshman campaign with Stanford. During his only season as a Cardinal, Mosley hauled in 48 receptions for 525 yards. He also found the end zone six times and frustrated defensive coordinators on a weekly basis.
With the regular season far from over, the Santa Margarita Grad still has plenty of time to make an impact. He also has a talented group of veteran receivers, such as Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore Jr., to rely on. They should be able to help make the transition easier as the Longhorns chase a national title.
Following a disappointing loss, Mosley and his teammates will be eager to get back on track next week. They are set to face a formidable opponent in Oklahoma, which is currently ranked as the third-best team in the nation. As the Longhorns look to improve their playoff standing and get some conference wins, they will need Mosley to continue to become a fixture in the offense.
If Mosley can replicate his numbers from last year, he should be able to mirror his production from Stanford.
