Ferrari lead the 24 Hours of Le Mans once again thanks to Yifei Ye’s daring overtake on Ryo Hirakawa in the Toyota Gazoo #8. AF Corse entered the night in the driving seat but a mistake from Phil Hanson cost them before a safety car paused proceedings, and left Porsche Penske #6 in the lead. However, Ye finished off a strong recovery drive by passing the Porsche ahead of daybreak.
