In just about the same sentence back at the NFL owners meetings, New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey made two noteworthy points.
Mougey declared Justin Fields, who signed a two-year deal in New York this offseason, as his team’s starting quarterback.
However, he did not say a quarterback is off the table with the team’s top pick at No. 7 overall at the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.
“I don’t know who we’re going to take at seven,” Mougey said.
That leaves Fields in… a pretty good place if we’re being honest. He’s the starter. But if a QB is selected, it could make his situation interesting.
How would Fields feel if he has a rookie behind him? Fields let us know.
“I’m willing to teach, but I’m not really interest in rhetorical questions,” Fields said.
