Where the SEC’s top sluggers rank

After hitting 28 home runs as a sophomore, Jared Jones passed on professional baseball to return to LSU for his junior season.

Jones is one of the top sluggers in the sport. He posted a 1.066 OPS as a true freshman on LSU’s national championship team in 2023, and he followed it up with a 1.201 OPS last year. Now, Jones is having a career year. He’s the headliner of LSU’s lineup with a 1.219 OPS.

Jones isn’t quite on his homer pace from 2024, but he’s made up for it in other areas. Jones is nearly batting .400 and already has 48 RBI.

We’re roughly halfway through the 2025 college baseball season and it’s time to look at where Jones, and others, stand on the SEC’s home run leaderboard. With 11 homers, Jones is in a five-way tie for fifth place.

Here’s a complete look at the SEC’s top sluggers.

Georgia Bulldogs lead the way

Georgia was swept by Texas over the weekend, but Texas was the first staff to slow the Bulldogs all year. Robbie Burnett leads the way with 15 home runs while Ryland Zabrowski is tied with Alabama’s Justin Lebron at No. 2.

With Burnett and Zaborowski, Georgia’s lineup is one of the best in the sport. Even if the Bulldogs are still looking for their pitching to take the next step, UGA’s sluggers give Georgia a chance against anyone.

Just looking at home run totals doesn’t always give us a complete picture of the top producers. The homers are what everybody wants to see, but OPS is often a better indicator of offensive output. Here’s what the SEC’s OPS leaderboard looks like.
