Wisconsin basketball received 20 votes in the latest edition of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The move arrives following a 2-0 output from Greg Gard’s squad over the past week. The Badgers’ buzzer-beating 78-75 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Jan. 13 and 96-87 triumph over Rutgers on Jan. 17 prompted voters to award UW with 15 more votes than they did in Jan. 12’s installation of the poll.

Arizona (No. 1), Michigan (No. 2), UConn (No. 3), Purdue (No. 4) and Duke (No. 5) make up the upper echelon of the poll, followed by Houston (No. 6), Nebraska (No. 7), Gonzaga (No. 8), Iowa State (No. 9) and Michigan State (No. 10). In addition to the Wolverines, Boilermakers, Cornhuskers and Spartans, Illinois (No. 11) appeared in the top 25.
Iowa received 52 votes alongside Wisconsin in the ‘receiving votes’ section of the poll. This marks the highest vote total for UW since Nov. 24, when the Badgers accumulated 51 votes.
Wisconsin currently sits at 13-5 (5-2 Big Ten) with a contest against Penn State slated for Jan. 22 in University Park. The Badgers then face off against USC, Minnesota and Ohio State to wrap January.
