Who should you start/sit in fantasy football?

The Washington Commanders face division rival Dallas Cowboys this Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

In a divisional game, it’s often hard to predict which players have the most fantasy value. Some rivalries end in low-scoring events (think Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens), while others end up as shootouts. This is one of those games that will likely be a shootout, as both defenses have been struggling each week.

Knowing what defense your fantasy players are facing plays a significant role in whether you should play someone or not, and sometimes it can be really difficult to decide. We’ve taken a look at this game and narrowed it down to four players to start or sit, and one sleeper to consider.

Here are your recommendations for who to start and sit in this Week 7 matchup.

Start: QB Dak Prescott

The Commanders are in the bottom 10 defenses for points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Prescott gets a lot of heat as the Cowboys’ quarterback, but he has 10 touchdowns in the last three games and averages 269.5 yards per game. The Commanders’ secondary has struggled this season, and it won’t be any different this week. Prescott is a must-start against the Commanders in Week 7.

Sit: WR CeeDee Lamb

Take this with a grain of salt. CeeDee Lamb has missed three games due to an ankle injury, and although he will play, will he be limited in any capacity?

The flip side of this is that if he’s not limited in any way, Lamb has the potential to tear apart the Commanders’ secondary for a huge game. However, at less than 100%, I would leave him on the bench this week.

Start: QB Jayden Daniels

The Cowboys allow the most fantasy points to quarterbacks of any other team in the league. Daniels missed a couple of games with a knee injury, but after his fumble led to a last-second Chicago Bears field goal to win the game in Week 6, he’s not going to let that happen again. He will secure the ball this week, run with it, and toss it down the field. He’s a multifaceted quarterback who can adapt in almost any situation. This week, that likely means we see him take advantage of the worst parts of the Cowboys’ defense.

Sit: TE Zack Ertz

Terry McLaurin is ruled out, and Noah Brown was placed on IR, so it’s a bit wild to suggest sitting one of Jayden Daniels’ targets. But that’s exactly what we’re doing here. The Cowboys actually defend tight ends well, ranking in the middle of the league for points allowed (7.33). Ertz is second in targets behind Deebo Samuel, but his 32 yards per game aren’t going to get it done this week.

Sleeper: WR Deebo Samuel

Samuel struggled last week, playing through a heel injury. This week, though, he may be the only proven pass-catcher Jayden Daniels has. He couldn’t break out last week because of his injury, but this week, he could have a big game against a defense that’s allowed 15 passing touchdowns through the first six weeks. Samuel is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but has played in each of the last two games with the injury.
