Wisconsin wide receiver Bryson Green signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.
Green is the fifth Badger off to the NFL level. Offensive tackle Jack Nelson and safety Hunter Wohler each went on Day 3 of the draft, while offensive lineman Joe Huber and cornerback R.J. Delancy also signed as UDFAs.
That number increases to eight when former transfers are also considered. Wide receiver Chimere Dike and quarterback Graham Mertz (both via Florida) were selected in the draft’s fourth and sixth rounds, respectively, while offensive tackle Logan Brown (via Kansas) signed as an UDFA.
Green joined the Badgers as a three-star transfer recruit ahead of the 2023 season. He previously began his college career at Oklahoma State, where he played in 23 games over two seasons, totaling 48 catches, 723 yards and seven touchdowns. He was one of coordinator Phil Longo’s primary transfer additions of the 2023 offseason as he reshaped the team’s skill positions to fit his air raid scheme.
Green produced well in his first year with the program, totaling 32 catches, 480 yards and two scores. Those numbers came without much stability at quarterback, as starter Tanner Mordecai missed significant time with a broken hand. Green’s breakout seven-catch, 105-yard, one-touchdown ReliaQuest Bowl performance against LSU had many expecting big things entering 2024.
Unfortunately, a lower-body injury defined the wide receiver’s senior season. He went out during the Badgers’ Sept. 28 loss at USC and didn’t return until their Nov. 16 contest vs. Oregon. Overall, Green appeared in just eight games, catching 17 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. As in 2023, Wisconsin’s subpar play under center impacted his production.
Green now joins a Cardinals receiving corps led by 2024 first-round pick Marvin Harrison Jr., 2023 third-round pick Michael Wilson and veteran Zay Jones. The room is crowded behind that top trio, meaning the former Badger may face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster.
