Rated the top transfer portal player by both On3 and 247Sports, UAB power forward Yaxel Lendeborg has chosen to play for the maize and blue.
He will, however, test the NBA draft waters in the meantime. ESPN first reported the news:
“I love the culture Dusty May has brought to every team that he’s coached,” Lendeborg said. “When I first started watching college basketball, it was FAU.”
Lendeborg, the No. 28 prospect in ESPN’s draft projections, will also declare for the NBA draft while maintaining his NCAA eligibility. He says he is fully committed to first exploring the draft process, with the goal of securing assurances from an NBA team of a multiyear contract in order to forgo the opportunity to play at Michigan.
The 6-foot-9 senior from Pennsauken, New Jersey starred with the Blazers, averaging 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in the 2024-25 season.
With Vlad Goldin moving on, though Lendeborg does not have his size, he will certainly add some scoring and rebounding prowess consistently given his track record.
Lendeborg joins North Carolina transfer Elliot Cadeau and Illinois transfer Morez Johnson Jr. in the 2025 transfer portal class.
