Wisconsin basketball 2025-26 roster, lineup with Braeden Carrington

Wisconsin basketball landed Tulsa and Minnesota transfer guard Braeden Carrington on Thursday, its first transfer addition in over two weeks.

Overall, Carrington is the program’s fourth transfer addition of the offseason, following Virginia wing Andrew Rohde, Portland forward Austin Rapp and San Diego State guard Nick Boyd. With that primary trio projected to bolster the Badgers’ starting five, Carrington likely slots in as a primary depth guard, along with rising sophomore Jack Janicki.

The rising senior joins the Badgers with a final year of eligibility remaining. He’s fresh off a 2024-25 season at Tulsa that included averages of 26.8 minutes, 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, plus shooting rates of 35% from the field and 33% from 3. That output followed two seasons as a role player at Minnesota, during which he appeared in 51 total games (10 starts) and averaged 20.5 minutes, 5.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and one assist while shooting 33% from the floor and 28% from 3.

Carrington was Wisconsin’s second roster addition of the day on Thursday, following Lithuanian forward Aleksas Bieliauskas’ commitment. Both players should slot into the team’s rotation immediately.

For more, here is where the Badgers’ roster and rotation now stand after those two additions.

Wisconsin Updated 2025-26 Starting Lineup Projection

  • Guard: John Blackwell (Junior)*
  • Guard: Nick Boyd (Senior — San Diego State transfer)
  • Wing: Andrew Rohde (Senior — Virginia transfer)
  • Forward: Austin Rapp (Sophomore — Portland transfer)
  • Forward: Nolan Winter (Junior)

Wisconsin’s starting lineup is unlikely to change now that the transfer window is closed and most top-end prospects have committed. Blackwell’s return is the one major question entering the rest of the offseason. If he withdraws from the NBA draft and returns to school, the Badgers would boast one of the Big Ten’s best starting units. If not, Carrington or Janicki would likely step into the starting group.

*(Note: Blackwell declared for the NBA draft on April 3 while maintaining his collegiate eligibility. He remains in the projected lineup, barring an unforeseen rise up draft boards)

Wisconsin’s Projected 2025-26 Bench/Reserves

  • Guard Jack Janicki (Sophomore)
  • Guard Braeden Carrington (Senior)
  • Forward Aleksas Bieliauskas (Freshman)
  • Guard Zach Kinziger (Freshman)
  • Center Riccardo Greppi (Sophomore)
  • Guard Jack Robison (Sophomore)
  • Guard Hayden Jones (Freshman)
  • Center Will Garlock (Freshman)

Carrington slots in next to Janicki as a primary backup guard. Given his major-conference experience and bench production, it would be no surprise if he claims Kamari McGee’s former sixth-man role. Bieliauskas, meanwhile, gives the team valuable frontcourt depth, a position that may still need another transfer addition before the season begins.

Both of Thursday’s additions immediately lengthen a Wisconsin lineup that appeared a bit thin after Xavier Amos’ departure. If Carrington brings the advertised guard depth and Bieliauskas’ production translates to the college level, the Badgers would boast the top-end talent and rotational depth necessary to contend for a Big Ten title.
