Thalapathy Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay is set to make his directorial debut with the Sundeep Kishan-starrer Sigma, which is slated to release on October 2, 2026. Ahead of the film’s release, the debutant has opened up about whether he plans to follow his father into acting or continue focusing on direction.

Speaking with SS Music, Jason Sanjay said, “Till Sigma release, I want my full focus on that, as I shouldn’t get deviated. Sigma is a big opportunity for me. After Sigma release, if something interesting comes, I’ll definitely act. If I get into acting, I’ll do my initial films in the rom-com genre, to be myself. I like the sci-fi genre, so I’ll later explore that too.”

Written and directed by Jason Sanjay, Sigma is touted as an action-adventure comedy centred on a lone wolf protagonist who challenges societal expectations while embarking on a hunt for hidden treasure involving high-stakes heists.

The film is produced by Lyca Productions, with music composed by Thaman S. Sundeep Kishan leads the cast, alongside Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan. Catherine Tresa is also reportedly part of the cast.

Initially scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, Sigma was postponed to October 2. The makers have already released two singles composed by Thaman S.

Thalapathy Vijay’s final film

Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in the lead role in Jana Nayagan, which marked his retirement from Tamil cinema. The action drama directed by H. Vinoth follows the story of a former officer who takes on the responsibility of raising a young girl while fulfilling her biological father’s final dream of making her an official.

The film explores how the man raises his foster daughter and how his own past is connected to their future. Apart from Vijay, the film also features Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and others in key roles. The movie is available for streaming on ZEE5.
