What PFF grades did Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars’ QBs receive last season?

What grades from PFF did Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterbacks receive for their performances last season?

What grades from Pro Football Focus did Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterbacks receive for their performances last season?

This offseason of change for the Jaguars came with one obvious focus: making sure that Lawrence has balance around him so that he doesn’t have to be Superman on every play.

Accomplishing this started with hiring Liam Coen, who brings a Sean McVay-esque offense to the Jaguars that is built on multiplicity, or throwing a variety of different looks at opponents in order to keep defenses off balance and guessing.

Around the NFL in recent years, numerous quarterbacks have found success in a similar style of system.

“I really like it,” Lawrence said of Coen’s offense. “It has a lot of answers. It’s great. It puts a lot on the players, you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers.

“You don’t feel like you’re stuck in a play that’s not set up for success,” Lawrence added. “We change the presentation a lot. We make a lot of things look the same. Without going into too much detail, there’s a lot of things I like about it.”

In addition to the schematic changes, GM James Gladstone reshaped the offensive line by making six new additions between free agency and the NFL draft. He also added a lot more speed, signing Dyami Brown, along with drafting Travis Hunter and Bhayshul Tuten.

Now, as far as PFF’s grading system goes, I always want to add the caveat that this metric is far from the be-all end-all when it comes to evaluating a player’s performance. It is one tool out of many that are out there and should be treated as such.

For some context around these metrics, here is a look at PFF’s grading system to provide some context behind the numbers:

  • 90.0+: Elite
  • 80-89.9: High quality
  • 70-79.9: Good
  • 60-69.9: Above average
  • 50-59.9: Average
  • 40-49.9: Below average
  • 39.9 or less: Poor

Alright, now let’s dive in. Along with each player’s grade from PFF, in parentheses is their ranking among the position group.

Trevor Lawrence

PFF grade: 76.8 (19th/44)

In 10 games, Lawrence completed 60.6% of his passes at 7.2 yards per attempt with 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions.

Nick Mullens

PFF grade: N/A

Mullens appeared in two games last season, throwing just two total passes. He joins the Jaguars after spending the last few seasons in Minnesota, operating in a similar offense to what Coen wants to run in Jacksonville.

John Wolford

PFF grade: N/A

Wolford didn’t see any NFL snaps in 2024. Last offseason, he spent some time in Tampa Bay operating in Coen’s offense when he was the offensive coordinator there.

Seth Henigan

PFF grade: 81.5* (29th)

Henigan completed 65% of his throws at 7.3 yards per attempt with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. Henigan also had the 12th-lowest turnover-worthy play rate among quarterbacks, according to PFF, and he had the sixth-highest big-time throw rate as well.
