Aaron Glenn saw some ‘really good things’ from Justin Fields in Jets’ loss to Patriots

The Jets’ offense got off to a terrific start on Thursday night.

They threw on their opening play of the game then ran the ball a total of 11 times as they drove down the field and were able to take a seven-point lead to cap off an outstanding 17-play drive.

Things quickly stalled out on Gang Green from there, though, as their offense went relatively silent the rest of the night and put together one of their most disappointing showings of the season.

New York allowed 21 unanswered points before John Metchie’s third quarter touchdown, then New England scored the next 10 to close out the 27-14 victory over the division rivals.

The Jets saw their winning streak come to an end as they finished the night with just 245 yards of offense.

QB Justin Fields was held in check after his big showing on the opening drive, throwing for just 116 yards while rushing 11 times for 67 more yards and accounting for a pair of scores.

He also fumbled deep in their own territory in a one-score game in the fourth quarter.

“Not good enough,” Fields said on his performance postgame. “We lost the game so we weren’t good enough — every time we lose my performance isn’t good enough out there.”

Despite Fields’ criticism, head coach Aaron Glenn actually liked what he saw from his dual-threat QB.

“There are some really good things,” Glenn said. “I thought he put some balls out there and we’ve got to have some guys make some plays — I know he’s going to say there’s some things he could’ve done better, but there are some good things he did.”

We’ll see if that was enough for Fields to earn another start next weekend in Baltimore.
