Aaron Rodgers rules out Saints, fueling Steelers signing speculation

Whether Saints fans love him or hate him, Aaron Rodgers will not play for New Orleans in 2025.

Heading into free agency, Rodgers’ big-three landing spots were speculated to be the Steelers, Vikings, and Giants — and Pittsburgh was seemingly the last one standing, as both NFC teams desired to go in a different direction at QB.

After Derek Carr’s retirement, the Saints were left scratching their heads at who their next signal caller would be — with fans and analysts alike predicting Rodgers would be a perfect fit. Rodgers, however, must have not gotten the memo and shot down a Saints signing in 2025.

Making an appearance at a Mike Stud concert in Texas this past weekend, Rodgers also participated in a Q&A that was uploaded on Friday, titled Mia’s Brothers On The Hot Seat: Mike & Aaron Rodgers. One fan asked the future Hall of Fame QB if he’d consider playing with the Saints, and this was Rodgers’ response:

“No,” Rodgers laughed off. “That’s the answer. No. I played there a couple times — but no, the answer is no. I’m too old, I don’t want to live in Louisiana.”

At the same Q&A, Rodgers all but confirmed he’d play for the Steelers by referencing playing against the Bears in an away game — one that Pittsburgh will find itself in on Week 12.

Retirement and signing with the Steelers seem like Rodgers’ only two options left — after the Saints now join the Vikings and Giants as teams he likely won’t play for in 2025.
