Tom Blomqvist put Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb Agajanian fastest overall in opening practice for the Rolex 24.
With less than 25 minutes left in the 90-minute session, the 32-year-old Blomqvist took the reins of the No. 60 Acura ARX-06 and shot to the top of the speed charts with a flying lap of 1 minute, 35.415 seconds on Daytona’s 3.56-mile speedway road course.

Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Kevin Estre set the early pace with a 1 minute, 35.520 second lap in the No. 6 Porsche 963, which stood at the top until Blomqvist’s flyer bumped him to second. Felipe Nasr put Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 7 sister car third overall with a run at 1 minute, 35.534 seconds.
There was some drama in the GTP class, with BMW M Team WRT’s No. 25 entry completing just five laps in the session. When talking to IMSA Radio, Kevin Magnussen mentioned it “a hybrid issue.” Motorsport.com has learned the team will change the batteries as a result.

Valentin Hasse Clot’s quick lap early was enough to hold the top spot in the GTD class and 24th overall. He nailed a flyer of 1 minute, 46.325 seconds in van der Steur Racing’s No. 19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO before handing off to Carl Bennett.
The quickest runner in the GTD Pro class was Triarsi Competizione’s Alessio Rovera, who wheeled the No. 033 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO to a best lap of 1 minute, 46.348 seconds.
The LMP2 class was led by Nick Cassidy in Inter Europol Competition’s No. 343 ORECA LMP2 07, rolling to a quick lap of 1 minute, 39.764 seconds.
