Aliyah Boston’s Play Against A’ja Wilson Turns Heads During Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Gainbridge Fieldhouse was filled with anticipation on Thursday night as the Indiana Fever welcomed the Las Vegas Aces for the second matchup between the teams this season.
Tip‑off came at 7:00 p.m. ET, and the home side jumped out to an early lead, led by a powerful inside presence few expected to dominate against a three-time WNBA MVP.
By the close of the first quarter, Aliyah Boston had already made her mark.
The 6‑foot‑5 forward/center, drafted first overall by Indiana in 2023, powered through traffic multiple times, drawing contact and converting tough layups against A’ja Wilson, last year’s league MVP and two-time champion.

Boston was a collegiate standout at South Carolina, where she led the Gamecocks to the 2022 NCAA national championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors in the tournament.
In that season, she collected every major national award: Naismith College Player of the Year, John R. Wooden Award, Wade Trophy, AP Player of the Year, and both Naismith and USBWA Defensive Player of the Year.
Boston went on to be selected first overall in the 2023 WNBA draft and earn unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year accolades, leading the league in field‑goal percentage (57.8%) and securing a spot on the All‑Rookie Team.
She has now earned an All-Star nod in each of her first three seasons in Indiana, including two starts as of 2025.
