Former NFL head coach and current Barstool Sports employee, Jon Gruden, posted a gift box opening video on Monday after receiving a care package from New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
As Gruden unpacked the box, he spent a significant amount of time reminiscing about Giants lore.
The excitement in Gruden’s eyes and voice was evident as he took a trip down memory lane, recalling some of the greatest players and years in Giants history.
Gruden rattled off the names of Giants legends dating back to the days of Y.A. Tittle and Frank Gifford, to the legends of the two recent Super Bowl runs, and even some players on the current roster. He was also quick to mention his excitement for the current defensive line, which includes Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and rookie Abdul Carter.
The one-time Super Bowl champion expressed faith in rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who he believes will “bring the Giants back.” He went on to call Dart “a bigger version of Fran Tarkenton.”
One of Gruden’s favorite items from the care package was a Lawrence Taylor bobblehead — a player Gruden referred to as “the greatest football player” he had ever seen play.
It’s safe to say that Gruden was pretty amped up to receive the care package from Daboll. The Giants are clearly a franchise he thinks highly of, and he has significant respect for the deep-rooted history that goes along with the franchise.
