Caleb Douglas Leads Group of Rookie Wide Receiver Fantasy Football Sleepers to Watch

De’Zhaun Stribling and Carnell Tate are grabbing all the headlines among rookie wide receivers in the Fantasy Football world, but there are plenty of other rookie wide receivers who will make a difference in Fantasy throughout the season. 

These rookie wide receiver Fantasy sleepers can make the difference down the road for any Fantasy team.

Cyrus Allen

Allen (WR 84, 245 ADP) continues to make strides throughout training camp and is making a case to be one of Patrick Mahomes’ main targets throughout the season.

Head coach Andy Reid appears to be emphasizing getting Allen to NFL speed by week 1 as the rookie hauled in five targets in each preseason game. 

The fifth-round draft pick is making a case to earn snaps throughout the season as the Chiefs WR 3 throughout the season.

Veterans Rashee Rice and Xavier Worth have the leading receiver roles locked down, but that doesn’t limit Allen’s Fantasy outlook.

Allen will still see targets at WR 3 and can see an expanded role if he produces with those targets. 

At a late ADP, Allen is worth the selection if he can translate his training camp connection with Mahomes into the regular season. 

Caleb Douglas

Douglas (WR 92, 258 ADP) caught Fantasy managers’ attention in week 1 of the preseason after making a circus-esque catch on the opening drive of his career. 

The third-round pick played the opening drive with the starters and seemed to find a connection with quarterback Malik Willis. 

Apart from his preseason debut, Douglas performed well in joint practices against the New York Giants and throughout much of training camp as a whole.

The lack of a main pass-catcher on the outside gives the rookie the opportunity to seize the Dolphins WR 1 role. 

With the Dolphins projected to be behind in the majority of their games, a passing game script will be emphasized, which will help the Dolphins receivers.

Even if Douglas can’t land the WR 1 role, the former Texas Tech Red Raider will still see a good amount of targets thanks to the negative game script.

Malik Benson

Benson (WR 144, 274 ADP) struggled in his second preseason game with two drops, but the rookie’s work throughout training camp has caught the attention of his teammates on both sides of the ball. 

Quarterback Kirk Cousins and cornerback Eric Stokes have marveled at rookie’s performances throughout camp, which could lead to Fantasy success in the season.

The Raiders lack of a WR 1 gives Benson the opportunity to fight for targets in the regular season.

Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech are the leading favorites to land the WR 1 role, but neither have grasped the spot for themselves so far. 

Benson may not win the WR 1 spot, but could be in contention for a WR 2 or a WR 3 role thanks to the lack of standouts in the Raiders receiving corps. 

If Benson can continue his training camp momentum into regular season games, the sixth-round pick can offer spot plays for Fantasy managers.
