Pant reached his century in style with a six followed by a celebratory somersault as India pushed for a huge total after closing day one on 359-3.
But the first wicket of the day of new India captain Shubman Gill for 147 was followed by six more for just 41 runs as India collapsed to 471 all out.
“He is such a big part of the dressing room…I can’t wait to give him a hug.”
Duckett made 62 before he was the second of three wickets for Bumrah.
“Going out there against the best bowler in the world, it wasn’t easy at times,” said Duckett.
“He is world class. It is hard as an opener as he bowls so many different balls. I tried to play as late as I could but it is tricky. I enjoy that challenge, and getting through the new ball gives you good confidence.
“I feel like I am at the top of my game but I wouldn’t say I am near the best in the world. There is no dressing room I would rather be a part of and these are the best years of my life.”
England trail by 262 runs with seven wickets remaining and will be looking for a strong start on day three to close on India’s first-innings total.

On the match situation, Duckett added: “We couldn’t have done much more with the ball today. They could have got 600 plus so to bowl them out for under 500 we are pleased. We are in a good spot and if we win the first session tomorrow we are really in this game.”
England looked up against it early on day two when Gill and Pant made a positive start.
The pair quickly moved India on from their overnight score of 359-3 as Pant brought up his seventh Test century in style with a one-handed six smashed into the stands.
Pant delighted the crowd with a somersault, but soon it was England celebrating as Gill was dismissed for 147 by Shoaib Bashir to leave the score at 430-4.
Having batted brilliantly up until then, India collapsed, losing their next six wickets for 41 runs as they were dismissed for 471.
Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue were the pick of the England bowlers with four wickets each.
England resumed under clouds in the afternoon and saw opener Zak Crawley dismissed in the first over by Bumrah.
Duckett made 62 before he was bowled by Bumrah with the score at 126-2.
Joe Root also fell to Bumrah, who could have had a fourth wicket as he had Harry Brook caught off a no ball in the last over of the day.
