Teja Sajja and director Prasanth Varma previously collaborated on Zombie Reddy, a comedy horror thriller that was released in 2021. Now, the makers are reportedly set to announce the film’s sequel on the occasion of Teja Sajja’s 31st birthday.
In an exclusive update, Pinkvilla has learned that Teja Sajja’s Zombie Reddy 2 will be officially announced on August 23, 2026, coinciding with the actor’s birthday.
According to a source close to the development, “An announcement for the sequel of Zombie Reddy is planned for tomorrow, August 23, on Teja Sajja’s birthday. The horror-comedy was a hit, and the makers thought it was time they revived this zombie universe for a bigger second chapter, cementing it as a franchise. The sequel is mounted on a much bigger scale and with a different director on board this time. More details will be revealed with the official announcement.”
The original Zombie Reddy follows Mario, a game designer from Hyderabad, who travels to Rayalaseema with his friends for his programmer friend Kalyan’s wedding. Their trip takes a terrifying turn when Bhadram is bitten by a mysterious man and begins transforming into a zombie, triggering a deadly outbreak in the village.
As the virus spreads, Mario and his friends become trapped between rival families and a growing zombie army. They eventually discover that a disgraced virologist accidentally created the virus while developing a vaccine and that a cure exists. With the help of the rival chieftains, Mario races to find the cure before everyone is infected.
At a temple, Mario discovers that water flowing from a Shiva Lingam can cure the infection. He leads the zombies into the water, successfully stopping the outbreak and saving his friends and the villagers. The film ends with Mario being celebrated as a hero, while the two rival families reunite after their loved ones are cured.
Apart from the HanuMan actor, the film also stars Anandhi, Daksha Nagarkar, Kireeti Damaraju, RJ Hemanth, Getup Srinu, Lahari Shari, and others in key roles. Directed by Prasanth Varma, the film is available to stream on Prime Video.

Teja Sajja was last seen in a leading role in Mirai, a fantasy action-adventure film featuring Manchu Manoj, Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, Shriya Saran, and Ritika Nayak in important roles. A sequel titled Mirai: Jaithraya was also announced during the end credits.
