The “Thiccer Kicker” has returned to the NFL.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, kicker Harrison Mevis is expected to sign with the New York Jets. The six-foot, 242-pounder spent parts of last spring and summer as a member of the Carolina Panthers.
Mevis, a first-team All-American and two-time All-SEC selection out of the University of Missouri, first cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers on May 10, 2024. He would eventually be released three months later on Aug. 11, after losing out to veteran Eddy Piñeiro in the team’s kicking competition.
Later that year, Mevis signed on with the United Football League’s Birmingham Stallions. He went on to make 20 of his 21 field goal attempts over 10 games for the Stallions, finishing with the second-highest conversion rate (95.2 percent) amongst all UFL kickers during the 2025 campaign.
