Former USC WR Michael Pittman Jr. discusses Makai Lemon, Biletnikoff

Earlier this month, USC wide receiver Makai Lemon won the Biletnikoff Award as the top pass catcher in all of college football. Lemon is the second Trojan to take home the honor, joining Marqise Lee back in 2012.

Recently, I was able to speak with former USC and current Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. through his partnership with Oral-B, the new official toothbrush of the NFL. When I asked Pittman—who also wore the No. 6 at USC—about Lemon and his remarkable 2025 season, he had nothing but high praise.

“Makai Lemon is one of the best receivers in football,” Pittman said. “I’m looking forward to him going to the Biletnikoff Award ceremony.

“I remember they had a guy coming in that they told me about, that they’re like, ‘We think that he is the next one.’ And then I’ve been able to watch him grow throughout the season and everything he’s done.

“We had a whole host of USC guys . . . and we weren’t able to come home with it. So hopefully he’s the next one.”

Pittman was USC’s most recent Biletnikoff finalist prior to Lemon back in 2019. Ultimately, he came up short of the award, as Ja’Marr Chase of LSU won it. Six years later, however, Lemon finally brought the Biletnikoff back to USC.

As for if Pittman brushes his teeth twice every day?

“Absolutely,” the wideout said. “You gotta do it when you wake up, and then before you go to sleep, so you can stay clean and stay cavity-free.”

Pittman will look to continue to keep his teeth clean and finish the regular season strong as Indianapolis closes with games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans.
