Telugu film Irumudi had a fantastic opening yesterday at the Indian box office, grossing Rs. 16.75 crore approx on its first day. Most of this came from the home territory of the Telugu states, at just under Rs. 15 crore approx. Additionally, the film grossed USD 600K / Rs. 5.75 crore approx internationally, giving it Rs. 22.50 crore approx opening day worldwide. All these numbers are career best for Ravi Teja.
The film benefited from a local regional holiday on Friday, recording bumper occupancies across both Telugu states. There were no ticket price hikes, so the footfall numbers are even more impressive than what the gross box office collections would suggest. The reports for the film are on the positive side, so it should hold very well today and put up big opening-weekend numbers.
The costs involved are very reasonable. With a strong opening and favourable reports, the film is going to be a handsome earner for all the stakeholders.
