Telugu film Irumudi had a fantastic opening weekend at the Indian box office, collecting Rs. 57 crore approx. The film also grossed around USD 1.45 million (Rs. 13.75 crore) overseas, bringing its worldwide opening-weekend total to over Rs. 70 crore. These are career-best box office figures for lead star Ravi Teja.

Just as the grosses are fantastic, so is the trend. Telugu films typically ease off on the second day; growth is an extreme rarity. Here, the film managed to grow on Saturday, despite the first day being a holiday. The film had a further surge on Sunday, with Telugu states growing by almost 25 per cent. When such things happen, you know that there is something special brewing.
The weekend in the Telugu states was just shy of the Rs. 50 crore mark. Seeing what has transpired over the weekend, the film should easily surpass the Rs. 100 crore mark in the twin states and probably aim for Rs. 150 crore or so in lifetime total. The film is a BLOCKBUSTER and quite possibly the biggest HIT of the career for Ravi Teja, after a streak of undeperformers.
