Joey Bosa and James Cook shine vs. Jets

The Buffalo Bills defense bent, broke, and then bounced back.

After giving up 40 points in a Week 1 shootout with the Ravens, and losing starters Ed Oliver and Taron Johnson for Week 2, Buffalo’s defense stiffened against the Jets.

The Bills allowed just 154 total yards, forced two turnovers and pitched a near-shutout until garbage time.

Here’s who’s trending up and down after Buffalo’s 30–10 win over New York.

Stock up: DE Joey Bosa

Bosa has been a terror in his first two games as a Bill. Against the Jets, he forced two fumbles in a game for the first time in his career. He finished with three tackles, a sack and those two strip attempts, and he now leads the NFL with three forced fumbles. No other player has more than one.

Stock up: DB Sam Franklin

Franklin is a special teams stud. He recorded three tackles on kick coverage, including solo stops on the game’s first two kickoffs. Claimed after Denver let him go on cutdown day, Franklin has immediately paid dividends.

Stock up: DT Zion Logue

Elevated from the practice squad with Ed Oliver sidelined, the rookie made the most of his 16 snaps. He combined for a second-quarter sack on Justin Fields, marking his first career QB takedown.

Stock up: James Cook and the running game

Cook powered the offense with 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 6.3 yards per carry. Buffalo piled up 224 yards on the ground and now ranks second in the NFL in rushing offense (166 yards per game). Cook has scored a rushing touchdown in six straight game. He leads the league in runs of 40+ yards since 2022.

Stock down: Josh Allen’s face

Allen said his nose was still bleeding after taking a shot to the face in the first quarter. His nose was bruised and swollen in his postgame interview.

Stock down: Dawson Knox’s hands

Knox had two drops and caught two of five targets for 19 yards.

By the numbers

  • Trubisky vs. Fields: Bills backup Mitchell Trubisky had more passing yards (32) on one attempt than Jets starter Justin Fields had all game (27).
  • Points > Passing: Buffalo scored 30 points; Fields threw for just 27 yards.
  • Prater’s record: Matt Prater extended his NFL record with his 82nd career field goal of 50+ yards.
  • Jets passing woes: New York completed only two passes in the first half.
  • Cook’s big-play streak: James Cook leads the NFL with five rushing TDs of 40+ yards since entering the league in 2022.
  • Third-down disaster: The Jets went 0-for-11 on third down.
  • Clamped down: Buffalo’s defense held New York to 154 total yards.
