During a recent interview on the Rich Eisen Show, quarterback guru Jordan Palmer praised Denver Broncos backup-turned-starter Jarrett Stidham for being one of the “best kept secrets” in the NFL, ahead of playing the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game on Sunday.
“I don’t think anybody knows until this weekend how good Jarrett Stidham is,” Palmer said. Palmer spoke about his long-standing personal relationship with Stidham before endorsing his work ethic. Stidham backed up legendary quarterback Tom Brady in New England, threw a touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas, and has been in head coach Sean Payton’s offense for three years.

Sunday will mark Stidham’s first start in over two years. He last started for the Broncos at the end of the 2023 season, in place of then-quarterback Russell Wilson, who had been benched at the end of that year.
Palmer then made a bold claim: “If Drake Maye and Jarrett Stidham both play at their best, I don’t think it’s much different,” Palmer said.
In an interesting twist, Palmer also let it slip that there was one team that made a notable offer for Stidham in a trade package, but the Broncos declined. “And then last year, I can’t say who, but there was a team who offered a pretty good ransom for him to trade, and (Denver) wouldn’t trade him.”
It just goes to show how valuable Stidham is to the Broncos, and they are hoping that their faith will be rewarded on Sunday.
