Luke Wilson is speaking out about becoming a first-time dad!
In case you missed it, news broke earlier this week that he welcomed a baby girl with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Kendall Yates. The couple reportedly brought their daughter to a press reception at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, on Tuesday for Luke’s upcoming Netflix comedy show The Hawk, and they introduced her to other guests and his cast members, including Jimmy Tatro.

No word yet on their infant’s name or sex. However, Luke just made his first comments on being a father! While at the red-carpet premiere of The Hawk in Los Angeles on Thursday, the 54-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight:
“It’s just what everybody says about it, but I’m just trying to do a good job. I’m very proud to be a dad.”

Luke also told E! News‘ Will Marfuggi that he’s “doing pretty well” since the birth of his daughter, and that “it’s nice to be out before I go back to work on my shift.” However, he’s “very happy about” this next chapter in life.
