No player since Week 15 last year has more PBUs than Witherspoon
Ahkello Witherspoon has been a great addition for the Rams in just his third year with the organization. He rarely has poor performances and has solidified himself as a solid cornerback that the Rams can rely on for defending the pass. In Week 1, Witherspoon matched up with star Nico Collins on 51 percent of his routes and held him to one catch on only two targets.
Last week, the Rams’ PR account shared a stat showing that Witherspoon has recorded an astounding eight passes defended in his last five regular-season games. Since Week 15 of 2024, that ranks first among all defensive players in the NFL.
Because of Witherspoon’s breakout, the Rams have been able to focus on other positions in both free agency and throughout the draft process, largely due to the fact that they have confidence in “Spoon” at the cornerback position. Witherspoon has also stacked great performances when matched up against premier receivers, only helping to confirm the trust that the Rams have in him.
With the Rams traveling to Tennessee today, Ahkello will likely see many matchups across from Calvin Ridley, a former star who tops the team’s mediocre receiver group. Witherspoon will look to further build on his strong Week 1 performance.
