Wisconsin Badgers Football Alabama Crimson Tide Final Score Loss

Wisconsin football suffered a 38-14 loss against the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Badgers entered the contest as a 21 1/2-point underdog, and they looked the part at Bryant-Denny Stadium. With backup quarterback Danny O’Neil under center, Wisconsin’s offense was responsible for just one score during the afternoon.

Alabama’s offense, on the other hand, operated with ease from start to finish. Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson completed 24 of his 29 attempts for 382 passing yards and four touchdowns in his third career start, in addition to six rushes for 25 yards on the ground.

O’Neil finished the bout with 11 completions for 117 yards and a touchdown. The San Diego State transfer also tossed a pair of interceptions to defensive back Bray Hubbard.

The first-year Badgers’ first turnover enabled the Crimson Tide to capitalize on an 11-play, 61-yard scoring drive late in the first frame. Simpson came alive in the second quarter with a pair of passing touchdowns, including a 43-yard strike to Germie Bernard in Alabama’s first scoring drive of the second quarter.

Simpson, a former five-star recruit, completed a 75-yard pass to receiver Ryan Williams to stretch the edge to 28-0 following intermission. Wisconsin wide receiver Vinny Anthony did respond with a 95-yard kickoff return on the ensuing sequence, but Alabama’s advantage proved too sizeable to overcome.

O’Neil converted on a 41-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jayden Ballard in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. When the dust settled, Alabama walked off Nick Saban field with a 38-14 triumph.

Wisconsin now turns to a Week 4 contest against the Maryland Terrapins on Sept. 20 at Camp Randall Stadium.
